IEC 61439 should be specified before design review

IEC 61439 affects assembly verification, temperature rise assumptions, short-circuit withstand, clearances, protective conductor continuity, and documentation expectations. Buyers should state the required standard alignment before the supplier finalizes the cabinet arrangement.

The RFQ should also define whether the buyer expects type-test evidence, routine inspection records, factory acceptance testing, or project-specific verification documents.

The single line diagram is not enough by itself

A useful low voltage switchgear RFQ should include the single line diagram, load schedule, incoming supply data, outgoing feeder list, protection philosophy, metering requirements, installation environment, cable entry direction, and destination frequency.

When this data is incomplete, a supplier can only provide budgetary assumptions instead of an engineering-grade quotation.

Confirm documentation before the purchase order

Buyers should confirm the expected drawing package, inspection records, component datasheets, packing documents, and FAT procedure before issuing a purchase order. This reduces delivery disputes and keeps the site acceptance process aligned with the original RFQ.
